This was just incredible. The animation and art were fantastic; the shadowing was perfect, the use of color dramatic, and the movement smooth. The music was expressive and kept up well with the arcs of the storyline. The plot is so compelling that I groaned when it was over. Seriously, you have put some serious love into this and it shows.
Oh, and thank you for the booby shot in the beginning fight sequence. Always a generous addition.
Can't wait to see the next one! :)

I agree with you that it could have used a little work, but I understand how much "fun" it is having people quit on you, so I promise I'll review it based on the circumstances.
I liked how the nymph's emotions were animated. I find that sometimes when you don't use spoken word, the emotions tend to get muddy in animation, but your nymph's feelings were easy to read. I would say that there should have been more instances of her being upset by the tree so that her reaction would have been a bit more founded. Like if the tree was in bloom and it was cross-pollinating with another tree; that'd be reason to burn it down. Ha ha!
I would have liked to see more movement from the tree: rustling leaves, waving branches, grooves in the bark to suggest a face. It would have suggested that there is some sort of give and take between the two of them, rather than her dishing out all of this adoration to something that is incapable of loving her back.
There is a lot of room for expansion with this piece, I think. From what you wrote I can see that it is not your passion project, but I would think if you put more of your concepts into it, this flash could really be something great. With a little more time to develop the character and maybe putting some animation into the tree itself, you could have something really fun.
And as far as people just remarking on the plot and ignoring the animation, don't let it bring you down. :) Ignore those, read the helpful ones, and keep animating!

ahhh.. thank you thank you thank you! you have no idea what it means to me to read a honestly constructive review :) I couldn't agree more with everything you said :) and I'll definitely take it all into consideration if I ever do decide to work more on the story/animation

I am glad that you got this message out. I think a lot of people constipate themselves over every little thing and never just say, "Wow, it's a great day!". I know I am guilty of it too, so it's nice to have someone smack you upside the head and say, "Stop and smell the roses, stupid!".
Art-wise, I loved the flow of the pictures from one to another. My only complaint was the leaves. Everything else seemed to have a flow, yet the leaves were so rigi. I would have prefered for them to curl on themselves and glide around a bit more.
The music was perfect. It didn't overpower the art at all and it punctuated right when it needed to.
All and all, a great job!

I understand that you were unable to actually speak to someone who has been on a vision quest, so I am not going to get all crazy on you about what they are really like. I would suggest for your next project, though, that you try to do some online research before tackling something this huge. It'll make all the difference to your audience if it is more truthful.
The artwork was a little cartoony, but I know they never give you enough time for these assignments, so I would say try to do more shading and detailing on things that you have more time to do.
I do have one more suggestion. It makes me crazy when people post assignments and don't say what grade they got! :)

It's amazing what makes us into the people that we are. How every experience we have, person we meet, and idea we ponder helps to build upon the base that is us.
The flash was beautiful. I especially loved the sepia, faded out tones so that everything looked like a weathered old picture album. It made it seem friendly and inviting, like you were sharing rather than having the audience intrude.
The music selection was perfect as well. It was mellow, happy, sort of like I imagine how you feel when you look back on your life.
I was really impressed! Excellent job!

I think what people aren't getting about it is that the guy was obviously in some major trouble and was trying to get away from the cops. In all honesty, it was in his best interest to kill the lady on the phone (she saw his face and which way her went), but he paused when she smiled at him. She took a minute and gave him a warm heart-felt smile. If you watch again, he actually seems to shake himself after that, as if to push the idea out of his head. It just goes to show that you never know how impactful your actions are. That's why it's called "IF".
As far as the flash itself goes, I would have liked to see richer graphics on this. The look was too cartoony and rough, so I think some of the more subtle emotion was missed.

I loved the story of this flash. It was very sweet.
My biggest disappointment was in the cartoony look. I think if the colors has been more muted and shadows had been used to increase the dramatic effect it would have been more impactful.
However, you seem to have really great handle on movement. The second I saw the toy care knock into her bed post, I though, "Wow, that bounced but like a really toy car would have". After that, I kept a close eye on the movement and I noticed that all the way through the story the car specifically moved just as a real one would. Another example was how is slowly coasted to a stop when it was rolled t the ghost girl.
I also wanted to mention that the music fit the flow very well, especially the last song when they are playing. It contrasted the rest of it so much that it really got the warm and fuzzies going.

That was one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. I laughed so much that I choked.
The art was well done, the quality was there and the sound (though really gross) was great. Good job!

I loved how the figures looked like actual bathroom symbols! That tiny detail made it a million times more funny.
Have you ever seen a flock of kids with an inattentive mother in a public restroom? I imagined two such brats screwing with the doors while the poor guy in the handicapped stall is trying to pee.
It was just hillarious! Good job!

It was incredible! It's sort of a mix between Aeon Flux and Tomb Warrior, two of my favorite things, so bravo! The art was clean ans crisp, which is good, but for the subject matter I would have liked a grittier more hand-drawn look. The sound was sheer perfection, though. My husband heard the sounds and came into the room asking if i'd rented a movie. Huge praise considering he normally knows from the sounds that I am on Newgrounds.
I am very anxious to see the first episode!
